How to make a consumer complaint

Step One: Know Your Rights

A) Whether you have grounds

This may seem obvious, but some types of transaction are not covered by consumer law. So make sure you are clear about your rights and whether you have grounds - read more in "Have You Grounds?"

B) Why you are dissatisfied

For example:

  • Was the product faulty?
  • Did it not fit the description given?
  • Was the service not carried out with proper care/not meet the terms of the contract?
  • Was it the way you were treated as a customer?

C) What you want

  • What exactly do you want the business to do to sort out your problem?
