'Money for nothing' scams: have your say

We asked you to tell us about the scams you have come across, send us your ideas, and find out what other consumers think.

'You've won the lottery!'

I just received the attached email from the "Irish Lottery" stating that I had won a substantial amount of money.

"We happily announce to you the draw (#1004) of the IRISH LOTTERY online Sweepstakes International program held on Wed 07 Feb 2007 - 9.05pm It is now available for claims and you are getting the final NOTIFICATION as regards this..."

Having already received two other emails from the "UK Lottery" I was aware that this is a scam. I checked your website and found it very informative and thought I would forward this to you - although I'm sure you have been alerted to it already.

Fortunately I am aware of these sort of scams but I feel sorry for anyone who can genuinely be taken in by them.
