The unused ticket

I have been trying to get a refund for an unused ticket from the national rail service of another EU country. The terms and conditions had me write for the "proper form" which would spell out how to complete the process to enable crediting the card on which the tickets were originally charged.

Instead, I received a personal letter telling me to provide bank details before they could continue the process. That letter came from a totally different address, though on a letterhead with the rail company's logo.

I sent a copy of the letter to the original rail system address with a query on this. No response. I let it go, but a few months later I got another letter, from the same person, on the same letterhead, saying exactly the same thing. This time, I bundled it all up and sent it, with a cover letter, to the country's embassy in Dublin. No response there either.

Whether they cannot be bothered or maybe they have an investigation going on, I do not know. All I know is that apparently not even an organisation such as a national rail company can be trusted.
