5. Grants to improve energy efficiency

There is a grants scheme for homeowners who invest in energy efficiency improvements, such as roof insulation.

The scheme is administered by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI). The types of measures eligible under the scheme are roof insulation, wall insulation and heating controls.

There is also a grant for households who choose to get a Building Energy Rating (BER) assessment before and after the works are completed.

The grants will be paid once the work is completed and you have paid the contractor. If the cost of the work (including VAT) is less than the maximum grant amount, the actual cost will be reimbursed.

Insulating your attic and walls could save you 30-40% on your home heating bill.
