There are certain key moments in life that bring people together to celebrate. Traditionally, these celebrations would have been organised by large groups of family or friends all pulling together, dividing up the tasks and all contributing labour, time and ideas to making them happen.
Modern life is different, and with a premium on time and many groups of friends and families separated by long distances, the organisation of group events is often outsourced to professionals.
While this relieves some of the organisational stress, it can be a costly exercise.
